 My Life is

 My Music

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
“Nineteen ninety, Chubb Rock jumps up on the scene with a lean and a pocket full of green. The green doesn’t symbolize I made it on the top, but Robocop last year was a shock!”

I’m laughing as I write this because my life as a DJ started back in 1991 when I was a “green” 10 years old whose only ambition at the time was to make that scratching sound on the single turntable on top of my mothers home stereo system. I was gifted two single records from my mother’s then DJ boyfriend; Chubb Rock-Treat Em’ Right and Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth-They Reminiscence over you. I played those two records until they were warped and worn out. Oh my goodness, I still can remember how euphoric that felt!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

There was always that lingering question of, “can I really do all this?” So, I did both and then some, wink! By the time I was 26 years old, I was a full-time Operations Sales Manager for a lucrative new home sales company, a soccer coach for my son’s team, a promotion/marketing assistant for a nightclub, a radio personality and above all else part two of an all Female DJ Group in a male-dominated market. It was exhausting most days and there were many challenges. There was a lot of self-doubt and some sexism issues while trying to make placement among the “fellas.” It took a lot of prayers, Om bowls, and daily mantras to not quit.

However, quitting is not hard-wired into my DNA.
